Engineering Team Leader

• 30 days - Get familiar with Sage's technology stack, architecture, and team structure. Meet your engineers, product and architecture peers, and begin shadowing delivery processes.
• 60 days - Begin driving sprint execution, establish team rituals, provide technical leadership on key features or services, and start owning delivery outcomes.
• 90 days - Shape roadmap delivery in close collaboration with product and begin mentoring engineers and business analysts to elevate delivery standards.

• Lead sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives
• Own technical delivery and architectural direction
• Lead, mentor and support engineers and analysts

• Ensure operational excellence through monitoring and third-tier support
• Stay hands-on by participating in code reviews and complex debugging when needed

• Strong software engineering background with experience in Java
• Ruby on Rails experience is not required, but a strong willingness to learn and work with it is essential
• Experience designing and delivering complex, high-scale solutions, APIs and web services
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure); ideally AWS services like ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS
• Experience managing and developing technical teams, including coaching and performance reviews
• Excellent problem-solving, estimation, and communication skills
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and across global teams
• Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
• Computer Science degree (or equivalent qualification); contribution to open-source projects is a bonus
