Offer DescriptionCampus Iberus ( ) is currently offering PhD contracts in all fields of knowledge through its MSCA COFUND programme Iberus Interdoc: . The Didactics, Heritage and Museography team (Social and Territorial Development) is issuing a call for expressions of interest from prospective PhD candidates interested in working under the supervision of Dr. Meritxell Simon-Martin (University of Lleida), in collaboration with Dr. Lorenzo Quirós Díaz (TranSkriptorium AI, S.L.) and Dr. Roberto García González (University of Lleida).The doctoral research will be embedded in the Digital Humanities project “The Lleida Teacher Education College Holding (1840-1951): A Digital Humanities Project” (LleidaDH): . This initiative aims to preserve, digitise, and make accessible the rich archival legacy of teacher education in Lleida during the 19th and 20th centuries.The PhD research line focuses on the design of a Public History digital archive targeted to historians, educators, and the wider community. The work will involve:
  • Digitisation and computational processing of historical records, including metadata creation, textual analysis, data mining, and visualization.
  • Development of an interactive and participative digital platform that encourages users to contribute through crowdsourcing, oral interviews, or sharing privately held materials.
  • Implementation of AI and machine learning techniques, including handwritten text recognition and probabilistic indexing, to improve access to historical sources.
  • Ensuring the archive is sustainable, accessible, and interoperable, aligned with FAIR principles and international standards (ISO 15489, ISO 30300).
  • Critical reflection on the epistemological, methodological, and ethical dimensions of digital archives, including issues of intellectual property, privacy, ownership, and credit.
  • Integration of a gender-sensitive and inclusive approach to the curation and presentation of digital heritage.
