This is what you will do:The Director, Global Program Manager (GPM) is responsible for co-leading the strategic and operational planning and decision-making processes with an Alexion Global Program Team (GPT). Working in partnership with the Global Program Team Leader (GPTL), the GPM provides strategic vision and guidance to the team by developing integrated plans to successfully execute the strategy. The Director GPM will provide content expertise to the timing, costs, and resources required for development programs and be able to successfully deliver their program(s) milestones and goals. As the strategic partner and operational lead for development and lifecycle management programs, the Director GPM works to ensure that cross-functional teams operate effectively, fostering positive team dynamics and championing Alexion’s operating model.You will be responsible for:Leading cross functional GPTs, in partnership with the GPTL, to deliver key milestones and activities, and communicating program details, risks, and mitigations to Leadership TeamsCoordinating and driving the planning activities for the GPT, including milestone setting, budget forecasting, resource planning, scenario planning, and developing an integrated program plan based off of cross-functional inputs and assumptionsProviding strategic guidance to ‘pressure-test’ program team’s assumptions, drive scenario planning / trade off analysis, and cross-functional planning into the overall integrated program planDeveloping and maintaining program budget, resource planning and investment assumptions for buy-ups/buy-downs in partnership with finance to ensure transparency and accuracy of funding statusFacilitating team goal setting and tracking to ensure adherence to plan and strategy and in preparation for end of year team evaluation processManaging all associated GPT sub-teams and tracking integrated deliverables, and preparing the GPT for governance interactions at program inflection pointsWorking independently to provide best in class operations and program management expertise to drive the GPT toward execution excellence, and bringing project management leadership and expertise in the assessment and integration of external assets into the Alexion pipelineRepresenting the vision and mission of the department to the Alexion organization and provide mentorship to junior staffYou will need to have:Given the complex, cross-functional, and cross-program nature of development programs; the GPM will need to execute in these core competencies:Excellent written and verbal skills, (including full professional English proficiency), strong influencing and interpersonal skills to operate and motivate a team in a matrix environment at all levels in the organization without authorityMust be well-organized and have strong attention to detail with an ability to deal with competing priorities; high level of problem solving capability and business acumen, ability to balance competing priorities and quickly and objectively drive the team towards a path which maximizes value, while maintaining the end-to-end cross-functional viewProven track record of planning and managing complex programs in different phases of development including cross-functional deliverables across Research, Operations, CMC, Commercial, and Market AccessExpert understanding of the end-to-end processes in drug development and product value assessmentDemonstrated ability to provide effective program management leadership in terms of setting program plans for the lifecycle of a program from discovery through launchExpertise in budget and resource management and prioritization frameworksAdept use of SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and technical proficiency in the use of program planning tools and systems (e.g. Microsoft Project, Planisware, resource management, decision analytics, budgeting mgmt)B.S. degree minimum, with higher level degree preferred, plus
10 years of industry experience, 8 of which should be in managing cross-functional teamsThe duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment.
