Temporary Position - CGT Diagnostic Specialist (Valencia)We are looking for a CGT Diagnostic Specialist to join our team in Valencia and support our diagnosis team. The Carrier Genetic Testing (CGT) Department performs testing and diagnosis of autosomal recessive and X-linked conditions in the context of reproductive genetics. Vitrolife Group is a leading company in the genetic services sector for the IVF industry.In this role, you will work alongside biologists and genetic specialists, performing high-complexity testing, as well as reviewing and maintaining patient test result records.Main responsibilitiesThe testing personnel are responsible for test performance and for reporting test results.
  • Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director or general supervisor and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
  • Each individual performing high complexity testing must:
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for test analyses, reviewing and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, or laboratory director.
  • Document all non-conformities and corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Communicate professionally with clients in providing and retrieving necessary information required for testing (when required/needed). Guidance and client assistance with the tests offered, test ordering, and pre and post-analytical steps.
  • Witnessing the analytical and post-analytical procedure (when required/needed) and ensure proper documentation (such as reports) is in place.
  • Be capable of working on weekends and graveyard hours depending on the workload and specific circumstances.
  • Be organized and responsible to ensure all laboratory testing is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Records keeping and quality control.
  • Participation in Validation of new tests or test upgrades.
  • Conducting molecular analysis techniques and interpretation of results using different platforms.

Identifies and fulfils customer demands and needs, using the available resources.Educational backgroundThe diagnosis personnel must possess a current license issue by the Country/State in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
  • Have earned a doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; and
  • Have education and training equivalent to that specified before by having at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
  • Having specific experience in carrier genetic test performance and reporting will be valued.
  • Having experience in variant curation will be valued.
  • Having experience in bioinformatic analysis will be valued.
