We currently educate students (mainly young learners and teenagers) on our own premises, as well as being responsible for running a number of additional English classes at public and private schools in the area.The Position: A dedicated Head of Studies (able to start the 1st of May, 2024 and committed to an indefinite contract) to teach and oversee the education in our English language academy. The ideal candidate will ensure excellence in teaching and maintain constant evaluation of the progress made in the classes. This full-time role requires a native-level English (C2) and advanced level of Spanish (minimum B2) with strong people skills and a commitment to high-quality education.Some of the job ResponsibilitiesWith teachers (staff):
- Assist with interviewing and hiring teachers.
- Schedule teachers classes.
- Lead teacher trainings and team meetings.
- Manage teachers by supervising them (classroom management, quality check, preparation, distribution and correction of classes, exams...).
- Observe teachers, followed by one-to-one feedback sessions to discuss evolution and continuous improvement.With students/families:
- Student follow-up and meetings with students and parents
- Attend parent-teacher meetings as necessary for mediation and translation.
- Do level testing (written and oral) of new students.
- Advise Students on progress, exams, self-study, etc.
- Supervise teacher-student tutorial procedure (discussing Student progress, needs, goals and satisfaction).With the director of the academy and administration department:
- Maintain periodic communication with administration to keep each other up to date on subjects that pertain to both areas.
- Supervise the courses' contents, books and other resources required for each academic year.
- Attend Cambridge Official exams.
- Evaluate and implement new ideas to improve the quality of the educational system used.Knowledge/Skills
- First class interpersonal skills, with ability to manage in a motivational and fair way which encourages staff to maintain high levels of performance.
- Extended knowledge of Cambridge exams (from KEY to CPE).
- Working on projects and gamification methodology.
- Microsoft Office package.
- Google for education tools.
- Interactive games and resources.
- 65" touch screen monitors.
- Awareness of special needs.
- Enjoy teaching a wide range of ages: from very young learners (5 years old) to teens (16 years old).Teaching experience: 1 yearsQualifications- At least 4 years of experience in full-time classroom EFL teaching.
- At least 1 year of experience in a HoS role.
- At least 2 professional and personal references.
- College/University Bachelors degree or higher.
- CELTA certificate (pass B preferred) or equivalent.
- DELTA certificate or Masters in Education.
- E.U. passport or Spanish residence/work permit.
- Advanced level of Spanish (B2-C1 level minimum) required.
- Knowledge of Catalan (preferred).
- A clear criminal record check and sexual offences' clearance certificates. MUST
- Preference given to candidates willing to live locally, in Vilafranca del Penedès or the Alt Penedès/Garraf areas.Salary and Benefits- Full-time, indefinite contract (1500 annual hours). Approx. 18-20 hours contact teaching hours/week.
- Academic courses: mid-September to mid-June (Monday-Friday), intensive courses during July (Monday-Thursday).
- Salary: 2035 euros/month gross.
- Initial training and mentoring.
