DescriptionAs Global Social sustainability Due Diligence specialist you will join our team in Grid Integration Business Unit, part of Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Group that applies and develops strategies to contribute to the Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Sustainability Goals 2030. We are looking for a professional with a passion for Social sustainability and Human Rights, who will focus on focuses on supporting the business at the global level to comply and operationalize Human Rights due diligence and bridging Human Resources initiatives within the Sustainability framework and the business.Human Rights and Human Rights due diligenceDrive the development of a management system and related MMRV (measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verification) to enact appropriate human and environmental due diligence processes along the business and value chain for the BU Grid Integration.Responsible for the operationalization of Human Rights Due diligence scope and requirements, including but not limited to:Management system development and improvement: draft policies, procedures and reccomendations to enable cross-functional stakeholders, to address the impact of human rights on their business and develop appropriate human rights programs aligned to international and industry standards (i.e. UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: OECD Guidelines, EU-CSRDDD)Sustainability strategy: ensure alignment with company global social sustainability. Work closely with Company and HR to build a community contribution framework, coordinate remedy and community contribution strategies and guidelines to support the company’s strategy and add value to the business. Develop solutions and concepts to identify and remedy violations. Collaborate and partner closely with other functions to integrate human rights aspects into business processes.Reporting (internal, external, and project—based). Provide support in the preparation, drafting and review of external reports, including internal controls and auditing processes: provide technical advice on planning and implementation, carry out communication and training measures about human due diligence obligations.Data collection and analysis: responsible for collecting data and evidence necessary for reporting and adapt processes in accordance with evolving mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) legislation including CSDDD, CSRD, other EU and emerging US and other country regulations.Engagement and communication: Understand and communicate the downstream business value and implications of a human rights-aligned business strategy. Develop and facilitate workshops, methodologies and training courses and monitor activities to support awareness, detection, and prevention goals.Continuous improvement: act as Subject matter-expert for the business, support the implementation of processes, assess possible adverse impacts associated with operationalizing and develop mitigation strategies.Collaborate with Human Resources function in the business Unit and sustainability, to ensure relevant data for the sustainability strategy and reporting are available and structured as per international standards. Support business in tailoring the company initiatives in relations to diversity, inclusion, equity, to BU needs, down to the factory and project level. Map the current internal standards related to labor, social sustainability, to define minimum requirements, standards and guidance for the local units, projects and factories for both internal and external resources.Job Profile SummaryGraduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Sustainability, Business Administration, Social science, Geography, International/ Socio-economic Development, Law, …). Business and Human Rights related course is a plus.At least 3 years Experience in Human Rights or Social Performance in business/industry environment including.Social sustainability topics such as modern slavery, living wage methodologies, labour and working conditions, gender, diversity & inclusion, Just Transition and responsible sourcing.Human Rights policies and implementation guidance, working in the intersection of business and human rights, work cross functionally across departments to include social sustainability and human rights in operationsCompetence and skills:Understanding of relevant international Safeguards and Standards, i.e. UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, etcBusiness acumen and project management skills.Comfort with working in ambiguity and an ability to structure issues and develop solutionsExcellent leadership and communication (both verbal and written) skills.Proven ability to work cross-culturally in an international working environment.Strong collaborator, networking and relationship managementStrong analytical and problem-solving skills (qualitative and quantitative aspects)Experience with using data and technology to solve social performance challenges.Fluent in English
