Vodafone IoT is a leader in the IoT Connectivity Gartner Magic quadrant and has been for 9 consecutive years. To fulfil the Technology requirements of IoT, Vodafone has developed its own IoT Connectivity Management Platform to target the key strategic growth opportunity specifically to meet the needs of Global IoT customers.Vodafone are also in the process of carving out and separating the IoT Connectivity business to secure additional external investment and maintain our leading position in the industry through the following.- Continue accelerating and enhancing our Platform as a Service for Vodafone customers on footprint.
- Launch service proposition in markets that are off Vodafone's current footprint (US and France).
- Address long tail lower volume segment through digital self-service platform globally.We are looking for a Manager of Networks for the carved-out IoT Business
responsible for the following.
  • 'Run' Network Services - running the 'as-is' ~€0.5BN Network as a Services (NaaS) supplied by Vodafone, including full lifecycle management of spanning Strategy, Architecture, Design, Build and Test through to Operations.
  • 'Optimise' Network Services - optimising the NaaS to improve TCO and impact on the NewCo Hyper business case
  • 'Transforming' Network Services - defining the 'to-be' Network Strategy and Execution plan - this will involve working with Vodafone to: evolve and optimise the NaaS or; Self-build a replacement Core Network and migrate customers; or Partnering with 3 rd parties to create a replacement platform and migrating the customers over
The role brings experience, knowledge, and future vision for establishing the Network function including its strategy, operating model, technology, and workforce. The role holder is a senior stakeholder in all relationships with internally
and externally sourced Network capabilities. As a key member of the senior leadership team in technology, this role contributes to the development and execution of the wider technology strategy for IoT connectivity and is responsible for ensuring the network strategy and operations is fully aligned, positioning it to deliver compelling business value.Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
  • Exceptional leadership and organisational skills, including an ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
  • Excellent written, verbal,communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience in implementing and/or running large global Networks as a CTO with also broader CCO, COO, CNO experiences.
  • Experience managing and transforming network support, systems, processes, and vendors, including demonstrated success in conducting RFP`s and vendor service transitions.
  • Track record of building, transforming, and measuring network delivery performance change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as Telecoms Security Act (TSA)
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), PCI, ITIL etc.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership:Strategy & Leadership:Sets the mission, vision, and strategy of the IoT Network to maximize business and technology initiatives for IoT.
Introduces innovative network technologies, operating models, and capabilities to enhance competitive capabilities and productivity.
Builds stakeholder relationships, understanding business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of network capabilities.
Controls the annual Network budget to align with strategic objectives and oversees talent development to meet network needs.
Manages employee engagement and promotes a compelling employee value proposition to retain engineering staff.Network Services:Provides direction on emerging technologies for Network as a Service (NaaS) arrangement with Vodafone.
Collaborates with executive leadership, suppliers, and business partners to execute network and business strategy.
Oversees design, development, operation, and support of network services to meet business needs.
Ensures reliable, sustainable, cost-effective, and secure delivery of network capabilities with agility.Network Platform:Sets long-term vision and strategic direction for the Network platform.
Plans, designs, and builds alternative solutions options considering NaaS arrangements.
Governs network technology standards, usage, and licensing to optimize costs and data policies.
Establishes disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the network.
Maintains awareness of new technologies and platforms to respond to business demands.Network Infrastructure:Provides expertise on connectivity, data center environments, cloud, telecom security, and network function virtualization.
Implements infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise architecture framework.
Designs, builds, delivers, maintains, and improves infrastructure solutions including automation strategies.
Improves network resilience through architectural solutions enhancing availability and disaster recovery readiness.
Cultivates a culture of continuous improvement in network infrastructure.Network Security:Leads network security function to ensure consistent and high-quality physical and network security management.
Collaborates with regulators, government organizations, and business units for network security risk assessment and management.
Liaises with external agencies to maintain a strong security posture and stay informed of relevant threats.
Establishes risk-based processes for assessing and mitigating network security risks involving supply chain partners and vendors.
Embeds network security in project delivery process by providing information security policies, practices, and guidelines.Must have technical / professional qualifications:
  • Chartered Engineer, Master's or bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, telecommunications or computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in Network Engineering and Operations
  • Five or more years of leadershipresponsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and leading talent.
