We are looking for a Senior BI Engineer who will strengthen our headquarters tribe in R&D division at Mews and lead the development of our next-generation business intelligence solution. You'll be working at the intersection of backend engineering, analytics and data engineering, building robust data pipelines that integrate with our core property management system and deliver actionable insights to our customers through modern business intelligence platform.Our Mews Business Intelligence solution is built on a modern data stack leveraging CDC (Change Data Capture) and Kafka for real-time data ingestion, dbt and Databricks for data transformation, and GoodData for analytics delivery. For more information, have a look at our , with recordings of events we talked at, about life at Mews or with all the latest news.RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborate with product managers, designers, QA, and stakeholders to understand product requirements and translate them into technical specifications for business intelligence data product that deliver measurable business value.Build and optimize real-time data ingestion pipelines using CDC and Kafka to capture changes from our core property management system and stream them to our data platform.Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ensure data accuracy, reliability, and performance across the entire business intelligence solution stack.Develop and manage semantic data models using dbt and Databricks that enable customers to focus on insights rather than data transformation complexities.Design and develop scalable backend services using .NET Core and deploy on Azure, focusing on high availability, scalability, and multi-regional support for our business intelligence platform.Implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps for both backend services and data transformation workflows.Take ownership of business intelligence projects and gradually take ownership of significant parts of the business intelligence product, ensuring technical quality and delivery excellence.Research and implement new technologies in the modern data stack to continuously improve our business intelligence capabilities and customer experience.Participate in day-to-day team activities, including stand-ups, retro meetings, code reviews, and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.REQUIRED SKILLSStrong expertise in data engineering technologies including high proficiency in SQL, experience with big data tools (Spark, PySpark), and hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions.Practical experience with modern data stack tools including dbt for data transformation, Kafka for event streaming, and experience with analytics platforms like GoodData, Looker, or similar BI tools.Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices, with demonstrated experience in implementing and owning large semantic data models.Experience with CDC (Change Data Capture) systems and real-time data processing architectures for building responsive BI solutions.Proven backend development experience with .NET Core and practical experience deploying applications on Azure using services such as App Service, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Redis.Programming proficiency in multiple languages including Python/PySpark, SQL and experience with C#/.NET if needed.DevOps and CI/CD expertise with practical skills in implementing automated deployment pipelines and infrastructure as code practices.Demonstrated experience owning complex projects that span multiple technologies and teams, with a track record of successful delivery.Effective communication in English and collaborative spirit, with experience working across engineering, product, and business teams.
