Offer DescriptionWe are seeking to recruit a research assistant for the project URBANE - Upscaling Innovative Green Logistics Solutions through Multi-Actor Collaboration and PI-Inspired Last Mile Deliveries of the SUMAT research group in the Economics and Business Studies. The aim of the URBANE project is to co-develop innovative solutions for the delivery of first-mile goods to European cities. From the Barcelona node, we intend to contribute to this by implementing RFID technologies for the reverse logistics process. In particular, we propose to develop and implement a system to encode RFID tags and track them from the moment of collection at the customer's home, passing through a delivery microhub, and ending at a consolidation centre located in the urban periphery. All of this must allow for real-time tracking of the parcel, while helping to make related operations more efficient.Responsibilities:
  • State-of-the-art review of parcel tracking systems (coding, consolidation/deconsolidation, en-route tracking, warehouse entry, etc.).
  • Development of scripts and tools for logistics data processing and integration.
  • Programming of queries to load/download information from an API.
  • Benchmarking of existing devices and technologies (guns, bows, etc.).
  • Barcode encoding and RFID tags.
  • In-situ validation of the technological implementation.
  • Data collection and KPI calculations.
  • Contribute to the documentation and preparation of project monitoring reports.
