Behind every successful airport transfer, there's a robust ecosystem of internal tools, partner connectivity, real-time data flows, and reliable APIs.As we scale and modernise our infrastructure, we're looking for an Engineering Lead - Operational Platforms & APIs to lead the evolution of the systems that power our day-to-day operations such as: internal tools (where all our teams operate, from Customer Service to Finance, and all the operations underneath), supplier connectivity, and APIs where we serve our product internally and externally.This person will lead the engineering efforts behind our operational platform - not only maintaining our current systems but also helping define the architecture and services that will shape our future. That includes working closely with our Web Platforms team to work on the Frontend, work within with DevOps to ensure reliability and observability, and with CMAC's development teams to align roadmaps and architecture.You'll also play a key role in our transition from our current stack (PHP/Symfony background) to a modern stack, working hand by hand with CMAC's team, ensuring performance, scalability and future-proof design.What is this all about?
  • Lead and mentor the engineers building our operational tools and APIs - including internal back-office apps, supplier and partner integrations.
  • Build and evolve our API ecosystem, supporting internal tools, external partners and third-party services.
  • Work closely with the Web Platforms team to ensure alignment on shared services and architecture decisions.
  • Define and guide the transition to the new architecture or improvements in the current one, ensuring performance, modularity and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and CMAC's engineering teams to build resilient, observable and scalable systems.
  • Drive engineering best practices, technical decisions, and long-term platform thinking.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, quality and continuous delivery.
Our current tech stack

  • Backend: PHP 7.x / 8.x, Yii 1, Symfony 2.x/4.x, NodeJS
  • Frontend: Vanilla JS, web components, Angular 1.x (legacy projects)
  • Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
  • Data & Messaging: MySQL, Redis
  • Monitoring & Ops: New Relic, Sentry
  • There are legacy projects that we want to move forward so we're progressively moving to a composable, service-based architecture, with continuous delivery and improved observability.
QualificationsWho are you?
  • Proven experience leading backend or platform engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in PHP (Symfony) and ideally experience (or strong interest) in .NET.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and scalable API design.
  • Familiarity with MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch and large-scale integrations.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills - you'll work with Product, DevOps, Web, Supply and external stakeholders.
