- Market Analysis and Strategy Development: responsible for conducting thorough market research and analysis to understand the trends, risks, and opportunities within your category. Based on this analysis, you develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's objectives, focusing on cost reduction, productivity and quality improvement, and innovation.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Your task will be handling relationships with global strategic suppliers, including selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing ongoing performance. This involves working closely with suppliers to ensure they meet the company's standards for quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: This role requires collaboration with various internal stakeholders, such as manufacturing engineering, product development, repair and maintenance, operations, finance teams, and senior executives in our companies to understand their needs and ensure the procurement strategy supports their overall business goals. The category manager acts as a link between the company and the suppliers, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment of objectives.
- Risk Management and Compliance: The category manager is responsible for identifying and mitigating risks related to supply chain disruptions, regulatory compliance, and ethical sourcing. This includes developing contingency plans to handle risks and ensuring that procurement practices follow relevant laws, regulations, and corporate social responsibility standards.
- Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing: A strategic procurement category manager plays a critical role in developing and implementing sustainable procurement practices. This includes identifying and prioritizing environmentally friendly and ethically sourced materials and services, engaging with suppliers to encourage sustainable practices, and ensuring that the company's supply chain meets established sustainability and corporate social responsibility goals.
- Innovation and Product Development Support: Identify and evaluate opportunities for new products or improvements to existing ones that can drive company revenue growth. By leveraging insights from market analysis and supplier capabilities, the strategic procurement category manager collaborates with product development teams to bring innovative products to market, ensuring alignment with consumer demands and competitive differentiation.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or technical field.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in regional procurement leading a strategic spend category within an international corporate framework, managing across diverse business units, multiple currencies.
- Sophisticated proficiency in the Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with a comprehensive understanding of business analysis, costing, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models.
- Complete fluency in English, both written and verbal, along with proficiency in at least one additional language.
- Fundamental knowledge of legal documentation, with the capability to interpret contracts and determine when to engage legal support.
- Proven people leadership skills with the ability to engage with individuals across varying levels of expertise and seniority, including upper management.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity, especially within a global company setting.
- Capable of building and maintaining trust-based relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Prioritization skills, experience working under tight deadlines.
- Adaptability within a dynamic and changing work environment.
